2016 Community Matters Survey

2016 Community Matters Survey

Last term twelve students in Years 5 and 6, led by Mrs Smith, conducted an Aubin Grove Community Family Survey. Thank you to all families who participated. Of the 740 families in our school, we received an amazing 90% return rate. Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the survey.

The students have since collated and analysed the data, made their findings, decided on their initiatives to put in place and presented their report to both the School Board and the KidsMatter committee.

We would now like to share the results with the school community. Please click here to read the full report. It makes very interesting reading and gives you a great insight into the family and cultural make-up of our school and community. A few of the findings are:

  • There are more parents born overseas (52%) than in Australia (48%).
  • 18% of the families of the school community do not use English as their main language at home.
  • The parents believe that they should be actively involved in their children’s education, but due to time and work commitments, it is difficult to be actively involved.

There are many more interesting findings that you can read contained within the report.

Look out for the implementation of our initiatives – the Welcome Wall at the front of the school and an extra flagpole for flying the flags of countries our families have come from.

Well done and congratulations to the Year 5 and 6 students who carried out the survey as part of their Academic Extension Challenge “Community Matters”.
