The Junior Choir are getting very excited about the One Big Voice Festival scheduled for Week 5, Term 3:

Friday August 17th

Please save the date as we will be doing a matinee performance at the Perth Arena. More details regarding the event times will be sent at a later date.

One Big Voice Auditions

Starting Term 2 Week 2, I am running auditions for choir students who wish to try out for a One Big Voice compere, solo or vocal group part. Last year, we had one student from Aubin Grove PS who sang on stage at the concert as part of a small vocal group.

These auditions will run every Tuesday lunchtime in Room 41 (after eating lunch) until Week 6 or 7. From the school auditions, 2 vocal and 2 compere students will be selected to attend the official One Big Voice Audition. This audition process will take place on:

SOLO and COMPERE AUDITIONS Saturday, June 23 (Week 9, Term 2)
Wanneroo Cultural Centre, 2 Rocca Way, WANNEROO 9am-5pm
(student times to be confirmed)

Before your child signs up for auditions, can you please make sure that they are available to attend the June 23rd audition in case they are selected.

I look forward to working with our little singers over the next few weeks.

Many thanks to those families who have been supporting our students’ choir practice time at home. I have noticed a big difference in the children’s confidence with their vocal repertoire.

Kind regards,

Ash Verbickis

CONGRATULATIONS to all of our amazing singers in the Junior and Senior Choir for their performances at the Honeywood Harmony Day Festival held earlier this term on March 11th.

Despite the hot conditions and long wait times, all the students performed with joy, passion and were successful in spreading their message about friendship and harmony.

The Junior Choir will be performing their Harmony Day songs again this week (Week 10) as a pop up choir.

I would like to congratulate and thank all of our choir students for their ongoing dedication and commitment to music.

The Aubin Grove Junior and Senior Choirs have again been invited to perform at the Honeywood Harmony Day Festival on Sunday 11th March. This is a multicultural festival celebrating diversity.

The event will be held at Honeywood Primary School Oval, Windjana Rise in Wandi. All students are required to meet Mrs V at 11.20am at the stage. We will be on stage just before noon. Please note that you will need to collect your child directly after their performance.

The Junior Choir are looking forward to performing 2 songs, Stand By Me and Harmony. This week we have welcomed some selected Year 2 singers to join our choir and we have been working hard to learn our songs. The soloists for our performance will be Eboni Hillman, Vanessa Ting and Leilah Ahipene.

The event is free and will run from 11am to 3pm if your family wishes to enjoy the festivities. It will feature a range of performers, artists and food vendors, with loads of activities for adults and children to enjoy.

Junior Choir students are not required to wear their school uniform. It is requested that they dress in all black and Mrs V will provide some Harmony accessories in orange.

Limited parking is available at the venue but a free shuttle bus will also be available from the Local Farmers Market if needed. Please make sure you allow enough time for parking.

We look forward to seeing you there for our choirs’ first performance for 2018.

Many thanks 🙂

On Friday 18th August, the Junior Choir attended the One Big Voice Festival for the first time at Perth Arena. We had the most incredible experience and the students were wonderful ambassadors for the Aubin Grove Music Program. The festival was attended by 4000 singers from over 80 schools around Perth.

We spent the afternoon at Perth Arena running through our songs before commencing the concert at 6:30pm. The arena was full with spectators and families from all over Perth and the energy was nothing short of electric.

Our favourite songs included Aussie Outback, Love my Life and Mary of York (a song written by the festival co-ordinator about her great great grandmother’s journey from England to York, Australia.)

Special thanks goes to Foulk Sensei, Sheelena (Eloise’s Mum) and Mellissa (Bella’s Mum) for their help and assistance on the day. Thank you also goes to all of our families who attended the festival to hear us sing and see us perform at such a spectacular venue.

We are all looking forward to our next concert event at Regent Gardens Aged Care Facility (Term 4) and will certainly be submitting our names again for One Big Voice 2018.

These are some of the thoughts from our Junior Choir members about their experience at the One Big Voice Festival.

“It was the best night ever.” – Vanessa

“It was Aubin Grove’s first time and a once in a lifetime opportunity.” – Maia

“It was loud and fun!” – Imaan

“It was exciting and fun.” – Emma B

“It was enjoyable and it was nice to have support from my family.” – Kaitlyn

Our Year 3 choir students should be congratulated for all their hard work in preparing for this festival. We are certainly looking forward to a wonderful festival.

The best ticket options are in the “Beethoven” section in sections: 214, 215 or 318, 319.

We are all extremely excited about this upcoming performance.

Perth Arena Choir Note

One Big Voice final note

At the end of last term, the Junior Choir left school for the afternoon to perform for our local aged care facility, Regents’ Gardens. The 45 little singers performed 5 songs for their elderly audience including their favourite festival song “Mary of York”. Of course, we were made to feel very welcome by the carers and the residents.

Following the performance, the students took the opportunity to shake hands and greet the residents. Building this positive connection in our community will hopefully be ongoing. We hope to be able to perform at Regents’ Gardens again next term.

Junior Choir Harmony Day Performance

On Sunday March 26th, the Junior Choir had their very first performance on stage for 2017. After only 4 rehearsals, we took our spot onstage at the Honeywood Harmony Day Festival.

We performed and sang our little hearts out to “True Colours” by Cyndi Lauper and “Count on Me” by Bruno Mars. We even braved the wind and rain while on stage too.

Many thanks to all of the families for supporting our first performance. Thank you for taking the time out on a Sunday to come and watch us shine on stage!

We have already been invited to come back and perform again for the 2018 Harmony Day Festival.
