A message from Heather Smith re: Photos for Grad Dinner

Hi year 6 parents,

The due date for sending me photos has been and gone so this is a last chance to forward me 2 photos of your child for a display at the graduation dinner (and I believe they will be used at ceremony too).

It would be greatly appreciated if you could email a toddler one and a recent one please.

I have responded to everyone who has emailed me, so if you have emailed me and not had a response it is likely I may not have received them. If this is the case, please do not hesitate to contact me on 0450 655 530 so I can arrange to get them some other way.

I am still missing :
13 from room 13
2 from room 10
9 from room 11

Once I start this project it is not something I can add to, so please please please get your photos to me ASAP so your child can try and spot themselves on the night.

Email your photos to hevtroy@live.com or call me on 0450 655 530 if you are having trouble.

Again, thank you to everyone who has already sent them to me.

Kind regards,
Heather Smith

Science Term 3

This weeks science lesson – It’s Electrifying

Lesson 1 is all about finding out what we think we know about how electrical circuits provide a means of transferring and transforming electrical energy.

For this we need battery operated devices such as:
eg, toy, music player, doorbells, handheld computer game, walkie-talkies etc.

I have asked the students, if possible, to bring in one battery operated item from home for our lesson tomorrow. They will not be used just observed. They will then go home with them on Friday after we have finished with them.

Book Week Parade

Each year across Australia, The CBCA brings children and books together celebrating CBCA Children’s Book Week. During this time schools, libraries, booksellers, authors, illustrators and children celebrate Australian children’s literature.

2017 Theme: Escape to Everywhere
Imagination drives creativity and innovation. It allows us to envision and escape to worlds beyond our own, to times other than the here and now. It turns boxes into racing cars, dining chairs and blankets into pirate forts, and dress-ups into sweeping ball gowns. Imagination is behind every fairy tale and picture book we cherish from our childhoods.

In Room 11 we have read so many exciting novels this year that we just couldn’t decide on one. We are Escaping to Everywhere through our cooperative readers, class novels and favourite stories of all time.

Aubin Grove’s celebration of Book Week Parade will be held tomorrow morning, Friday 22nd September, at the Little Girls Courtyard commencing at approx. 9am.

Hope to see you there.

Open Night

Open night is upon us. The classrooms will be open for viewing from 5:30pm- 7:00pm tonight (Wednesday). This is a great opportunity for everyone to wander around the school to have a look at all the wonderful learning going on in our school.

The Year 6 students have been working hard on completing an iBook which we would like to put on display tonight. For this we have asked if the students can bring their laptops to school with them this evening and put their narrative on display. Then when they head home they take their laptop with them.

The choir and SIM students will also be performing in the Under Cover Area throughout the evening from 5:30pm. All choir and SIM students have been asked to arrive at the music room at 5:15pm.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Atwell College Applications for Year 7

They have asked that all application enrolments forms for students who will be attending next year be returned to the College by Friday 24th September. If your child did not bring one home the other day and they require one, please just let me know, as we have a couple of spares.

It was mentioned at the meeting that when you return the completed forms, you are asked to do this in person and take all original documentation they ask for with you as they will photocopy them onsite. Otherwise you are required to have all documentation certified before taking in the application.
