Fixing our Sentences

In our writing, we have been trying to fix our problem sentences. We have been learning about subjects and predicates, independent clauses, simple sentences, compound sentences and coordinating conjunctions.

We have learnt how to edit the following problems in our writing:

  1. Run on sentences: these occur when we forget full stops and our sentences run into one another.
  2. Fragment: this occurs when our sentence is missing a subject or a predicate.
  3. Comma splice: this occurs when we use commas in places where we should be using full stops or a conjunction to join independent clauses.

Here are some photos of our group editing challenge from last week when we worked in our teams to identify the problems and correct them.
