Welcome to week 2. This week I will be teaching Monday-Friday. We will continue with our swimming lessons and adjusted timetable until the end of the week.
Last week the children all returned keen and eager to learn. They were flexible with swimming and the change in routines. They all showed great maturity and independence when get themselves changed before and after for swimming lessons. I am sure this will continue this week for our last week of lessons.
Homework files will be sent home today with a reading book and homework grid. Spelling tests are still being conducted to work out what lists children need to revise and start with. This weeks homework grid will be due back this Friday, 5th May. The following grids will be completed over a 2 week period and due back on Friday’s on even weeks (2,4,6,8 & 10).
We will begin a new maths challenge today. Last terms was sent home for you to look at and keep. This terms has been revised and re-written to focus on strategies and concepts that we covered last term and will introduce this term. The aim of the challenge, which is a whole school activity, is to encourage the children to use mental maths strategies to answer as many questions as they can in a 10 minute period. The time remains the same each week and the children are encouraged to look at their previous weeks challenge and set themselves an achievable goal. We also finish by graphing their progress so it is visual. The children really enjoy challenging themselves and setting themselves goals which we share and celebrate together. If you have any questions in regards to this please come and see me. I am happy to explain it all further if you wish. This week we will be doing the challenge twice. One today and one Thursday due to missing last week.
I hope you all have a great week.
