Week 6

Welcome to week 6.

This week we have a few exciting things happening.

On Tuesday Mrs J will be teaching the class for the second half of the day while I undertake some other duties. I will still be at the school but not necessarily in the classroom.

This Thursday we will be venturing out on our excursion to Peninsula Farm. We will be leaving at approx. 9:20 and will return at about 2:30. A blog was posted yesterday in regards to what needs to be brought for the day. Please ensure all permission forms and money have been handed into the office by tomorrow, Friday 26th May. I am still chasing 2 parents helpers. If you are free and able to attend please let me know asap.

Friday is a staff development day and there will be no school for students. Due to this please send back your child’s homework folder, homework grid and spelling words on Thursday morning.

I have had a few people mention there child hasn’t had a new reading book or spelling words. I am unable to send home new reading books if the previous book has not been returned. This is the school library policy that we all have to follow. If your child hasn’t returned a book for a few weeks I will send home a small slip to remind you of what the book was called and how long it has been borrowed for.

In addition to this I have 3 seperate baskets for homework to go into on Fridays. It has been the same all year and is now located on a desk in front of mine. The orange tub is for reading folders and books, The green basket is for homework grids (due every 2 weeks on even weeks) and the blue is for spelling words. If your child doesn’t put their spelling words into the blue basket on Friday then they won’t get tested on Monday and have new words sent home if they get them all right.

I have two amazing parents that come in each Monday to assist with the testing of spelling words. I am looking for a parent volunteer who could assist with changing reading books each week either on a Friday morning at drop off or just prior to the final siren at the end of the day. If you have some spare time and could assist with this that would be great.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I look forward to a fun-filled week ahead.
