This term in English we have been studying the persuasive text structure. We began the term with a ‘cold piece’ about whether homework should be banned at school. We will rewrite this argument again in week 9 so we can compare our growth in this area since the start of the term.
After lots of oral discussions, trying out different planning templates and group work we are beginning to use the OREO structure with confidence. Opinion, Reason, Example, Opinion Restated. The children have a solid understanding of high modality words to convince the reader and are beginning to include emotive words to grab the reader’s interest, as well as exaggeration and rhetorical questions!
