Good morning,

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend. Just a quick update and reminder for next week.

Week 3 Update –

English – The children have been thoroughly enjoying learning all about Australian animals over the last few weeks. We have read Edward the Emu and Possum Magic and are looking forward to reading Koala Lou next week.

This term the children have been focusing on sounding out simple sentences when reading and writing, reading and writing sight words, sequencing and retelling stories and making connections to characters in stories.

Numeracy – The children have been learning about 3D shapes in our environment and have been learning to name, recognise and describe them in their environments. The 3D shapes we have been learning are cube, cylinder, cone and sphere. The children have been recognising the differences between 2D and 3D shapes. Next week we are looking forward to learning about duration of time and comparing shorter and longer durations of time and will be learning to explain what activities take shorter or longer periods of time.

Zoo Excursion (Next Friday) – the permission notes and money are due in by next Wednesday. Please can these be handed to the office.

Week 4 News – The children this week are going to tell us all about the animal they are most looking forward to seeing at the zoo and why. They are able to draw a picture of their animal if they wish but only if they would like to.

Home Reading Books – just a reminder to return home reading folders on Friday or the very latest Monday morning Isabelles Mum (Sheleena) very kindly changes them for us on a Monday morning. If your child’s book isn’t returned on Monday we do find it hard to find time throughout the day to swap your child’s book. Thank you for your cooperation with this.

Sight Word Booklets – we are very pleased with the progress all children are making with their sight words. This is an integral part of supporting your children to read books. Please keep bringing them back in on a Friday once they have mastered their current set of sight words and we will test them and give them a new set for the following week.

Fathers Day morning tea – Just to let fathers know to save the date for our morning tea on Friday the 1st of September.

Have a fabulous weekend and I look forward to seeing you all next week.

Heather 🙂
