Over the last 3 weeks we have been extremely busy in the classroom.

During week 6 we were learning about our families and how we are all special and unique. The children enjoyed creating family trees and loved sharing their baby photos and sharing funny stories from when they were younger.

Over the last 2 weeks we have been enjoying reading more books by the wonderful author Eric Carle. We read ‘The Lonely Firefly’ and ’10 Little Rubber Ducks’. The children have enjoyed sequencing and retelling the stories and writing about where they would travel to if they were a firefly. We look forward to reading ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ next week.

In week 7, during maths we were weighing items in the classroom and comparing the weights using heavy and light to describe the objects.  In week 8 we enjoyed learning all about ordinal numbers and using the correct language to describe the position of objects. We even took part in running races and recorded the positions of each runner and talked about the order afterwards.

In science we have been learning about different animal habitats and even had a go at building a shelter for our class pet Dougie. We also discussed the science competition, which we will be sending notes about next week.

The children have loved spending time in the oral language corner over the last few weeks. They really wanted to turn it into a hairdressers and have enjoyed taking part in impressive role play writing and engaging in oral language in role.

It has been another wonderful few weeks in Room 28. Thank you for the ongoing support from all parents and grandparents in the class and for the parent helpers that have helped us out this term.

I apologise as due to technical issues I cannot attach any photos. As soon as this has been resolved I will upload them.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Heather 🙂
