STEM Challenge

This year Room 32 have taken part in different STEM challenges. STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

For our balloon STEM challenge students were placed into groups of four. They were then given 15 minutes to build the tallest tower possible using only balloons and sticky tape. At the end of the challenge we measured each of the 7 teams towers and declared the winners. Not only did this activity help students to think critically, it enabled students to communicate and collaborate with peers.

For our second STEM challenge students were placed in groups and once again  challenged to build the tallest tower, this time using marshmallows and uncooked pasta. Students were then asked to reflect on their efforts.

Stay tuned for our third Stem challenge which will be taking place in the second half of Term 3. Please enjoy some of the photos taken on the day.
