Kagan Cooperative Learning

We had a great time devising our team chants and posters this week with Mrs Matthews. We worked together with our team members to decide upon a mascot, chant and accompanying actions. It was great fun.

Kagan Cooperative Learning uses teaching strategies in which small teams of students work together towards a learning goal. They may also be working with partners or the whole class. Each member of a team is responsible not only for learning what is taught but also for helping teammates learn, thus creating an atmosphere of achievement. Students work through the assignment until all group members successfully understand and complete it.

In addition to devising our teams, we developed our team cohesiveness by twisting ourself into pretzels and having a teammate untangle us! We also built on our communication skills by playing whoosh, bang, ker-plunk. We are looking forward to using Kagan everyday in our classroom!
