End of Year Concert

Monday, 20th November 2017

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

The End of Year Concert is fast approaching and students have been singing and dancing up a storm so that they can put on a fantastic show. This year the concert will be held on 12th December and is themed I Feel Good. The concert will commence at 5.30pm and students should be in their classrooms by 5pm. All Year 1 students will be performing “Best Day of My Life” by American Authors.

To make the performance extra special we would like the Year One students to dress in the following:

GIRLS – black leggings, coloured tutu with a coloured shirt (preferably same as tutu) and ribbons in hair.

BOYS – black shorts, brightly coloured t-shirt with baseball cap worn backwards.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me or your child’s teacher.

Thank you,

Ash Verbickis

The Salvation Army Christmas Appeal.

It is already that time of year again, where we will be partnering with The Salvation Army Christmas Appeal.

We  have a box in our classroom where our families can share non-perishable food items and groceries to give to those who are doing it tough in our community.A list of suitable items will be included on the newsletter and is posted on our classroom door.

We have until Dec 12 to fill it up before it’s collected. Thank you for supporting this great cause.

Oral Presentation

In weeks 8, 9 and 10 students will be asked to give an oral presentation about significant family events/traditions. This relates to the HASS and English curriculum. You can make your presentation using a prompt such as a poster, keynote/powerpoint (on a USB), using artefact or costumes.

The presentation should include, but is not limited to:
• Naming the type of event and why you celebrate/commemorate it.
• Who is involved in the event?
• Where does it take place?
• What do you do?
• Why do you do these things?

Examples (but not exclusively) include Christmas, Birthdays, Religious Ceremonies, to Annual Camping Trips. You may focus on one or more events. It could be presented as a time line if you wish.

We hope you have fun with the project and enjoy reflecting with your child about important events that have happened. Be as creative as you like!
Kind Regards,
Elaine Cass

Homework for Term 4

For the remainder of the year, we will not be sending sight word spelling home. Home readers will be sent home until Week 7 when they all need to be returned. To finish off the year, students will be presenting an oral language project. Further details about this to come!

PD Day

Students do not attend school tomorrow. Have a great long weekend. Elaine

Sports Carnival

As you know, tomorrow is our Junior Sports Carnival. A few things to note:

Our carnival runs from 11:15am til (hopefully!) 2:35pm.

  • Please make sure students have faction shirts, hats, sunscreen and a water bottle. Students must have hats for tomorrow. Please make sure everything is labelled.
  • Students will have recess before they go out to their faction tents.
  • Lunch will be at 12.50pm and go for about 20 minutes. Parents who are there can come into the bays to eat with students but students aren’t to come out of the bay.
  • Students are encouraged to come decorated in their faction colours but this is to be done at home, not at school.
  • Students need to be collected from the classroom at the end of the day, not from the oval. If any students are going home early, they need to be signed out of the front office before taking the child.
  • The canteen is not open tomorrow.

Students will be required to wear their faction t-shirt and bring a clearly labelled hat, water bottle, for the day. Sunscreen should be applied by parents in the morning prior to the event however students will also have access to sunscreen in their faction bay for re-application.

At the conclusion of the event, students will return to classrooms with teachers in readiness for pick-up at 2.50pm. It would be much appreciated if parents could adhere to this process to assist in accountability for all students.

Looking forward to a great day and we hope to see you there.

Kind regards
