Term 4 home learning program will change slightly this term. Homework commences in Week 2 on a fortnightly rotation.
***Sight word reading and spelling***
Students who have shown to both spell and read their Year 2 sight words move on to solely the WTW program. Some students who continue to require practise will receive an additional personalised table of words they are required to SPELL and READ after end of T3 assessments. Please emphasise the importance of learning these YEAR 2 words so students do not fall behind in Year 3.
- Words Their Way spelling program.
*See below for more info. For most students who can spell and read their Year 2 sight words, WTW will replace sight words as a differentiated program to support students to phonetically spell words.
- Home Reading – levelled readers.
All students should have moved levels after Term 3 assessments. Please remember that books continue to be changed every Friday.
- Term 4 Learning Goals
As soon as you or your child believes a goal from the chart has been achieved, pop it in the pink “It’s a Goal!” goal chart box next to the front door and I will assess and mark off the goal if it has been achieved. Every fortnight, students will be responsible for transferring their class goal achievements to their home learning goal chart.
- Fortnightly homework grids
*Commencing Week 2, children will begin a Words Their Way home learning routine. This is the spelling and vocabulary program used in class and for home learning in Years 3-6 and will assist in getting them ready for next year.
The children have been completing the Words Their Way activities in class since the beginning of last term and should be well versed in the activities. A explanation sheet will also be added to their home learning folders, as well as a snap lock bag to keep the words in.
The rotation of spelling and vocabulary activities will continue over two weeks and would look a bit like this;
* Choice of Tic Tac Toe activities will be presented on a worksheet mirroring below:
