As tomorrow is the last day of school I have asked the children to bring in their favourite board game to share with their friends.
Over the past few days our class has been learning about cybersafety. In particular we have focussed on some important messages for young children to remember when they are using technology such as the internet.
To help us, we have been using a series of short animated videos from Hector’s World™. The videos feature Hector the dolphin and his friends, as they explore some of the exciting opportunities that technology brings, while at the same time learning about being safe and responsible cybercitizens.
You can watch the animated episodes yourself or with your child online at www.cybersmart.gov.au. It is a good idea that a child in this age group always has an adult with them when they are online.
One of the most important concepts your child has been learning about, is that if something happens when they are online that worries or upsets them (such as coming across images they weren’t expecting, or when they are asked for their personal information), they should seek help from a trusted adult.
Other concepts we have covered include; learning to identify who the trusted adults are in children’s lives, recognising when something does not feel right, and the importance of only sharing our personal information with people we can trust.
Please check that you have returned your child’s grey progress folder so that it can be passed on to next years teacher.
On Tuesday the 12th of December the year 1’s will be having a class party to celebrate our year together. We have decided, this year, to order pizzas for the party instead of parents providing a plate of food. On this day you will not need to provide lunch for your child (only recess as usual). We ask that in lieu of providing a plate, you send in $5 with your child to help us pay for the party. I will be collecting the $5 from now until Wednesday the 6th of December. I hope that your child can participate and am looking forward to celebrating a wonderful year in our classroom.
Thank you for your support.
The End of Year Concert is fast approaching and students have been singing and dancing up a storm so that they can put on a fantastic show. This year the concert will be held on 12th December and is themed I Feel Good. The concert will commence at 5.30pm and students should be in their classrooms by 5pm. All Year 1 students will be performing “Best Day of My Life” by American Authors.
To make the performance extra special we would like the Year One students to dress in the following:
GIRLS – black leggings, coloured tutu with a coloured shirt (preferably same as tutu) and ribbons in hair.
BOYS – black shorts, brightly coloured t-shirt with baseball cap worn backwards.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me or your child’s teacher.
Junior Music Teacher
Thank you to all the parents that were able to come along to today’s assembly. I hope you all enjoyed it! I know it meant so much to all your kids that you were there. They all did such a fabulous job today and I am so proud of each and every one of them. They all learned their lines so well and I want to say a big thank you to all of you who helped their children with that. Every staff member that I saw this afternoon was exceptionally complementary of their polished performance under some very trying circumstances. We were asked yesterday afternoon (at the last minute) to change the order of the assembly which meant that the kids had to forget everything they had been rehearsing. Again they did an amazing job!
It makes me very sad to think that I have less than 5 weeks left with your beautiful children before they leave me for Year 2. Where has the year gone???
The big day has finally arrived! Room 7 is looking forward to hosting the assembly tomorrow. We hope you can all make it! Thank you all for helping your child learn their lines for the big performance. Thank you also to those parents who have already sent in a coloured t-shirt for your child to wear. If you have not already done so, could you please be sure to send a labelled plain coloured t-shirt in with your child tomorrow. They are not allowed to wear it to school but they will be changing into them just before the assembly. Hope to see you all on the undercover area tomorrow afternoon at around 1.30.
We are just one week away from our big day!
Next Tuesday the 14th of November Room 7 will be hosting the Junior Assembly. The assembly will be in the undercover are and will commence around 1.30pm. We have been practising very hard at school and hopefully at home too!
On the day it would be great if the kids could all be wearing a plain bright coloured t-shirt with their school uniform bottom (shorts or skirt). If you would like to send in a t-shirt in a labelled shopping bag before the day to be organised I am happy to store them.
Due to poor weather conditions last Wednesday we unfortunately had to suspend events for all year 1 and 2 competitors. A decision has been made to run the year 1 and 2 component of the Junior Carnival this Friday the 3rd November.

We wish to thank you for your patience and understanding.
Looking forward to a great day.
As you know, tomorrow is our Junior Sports Carnival. A few things to note:
- Our carnival runs from 11:15am til (hopefully!) 2:35pm.
- Please make sure students have faction shirts, hats, sunscreen and a water bottle. Students must have hats for tomorrow. Please make sure everything is labelled.
- Students will have recess before they go out to their faction tents.
- Lunch will be at 12.50pm and go for about 20 minutes. Parents who are there can come into the bays to eat with students but students aren’t to come out of the bay.
- Students are encouraged to come decorated in their faction colours but this is to be done at home, not at school.
- Students need to be collected from the classroom at the end of the day, not from the oval. If any students are going home early, they need to be signed out of the front office before taking the child.
- The canteen is not open tomorrow.
