Never Stop Reading!

Never Stop Reading is a Department of Education initiative to encourage parents of children in Years 3-6 to continue reading aloud with their children as they progress through primary school. Reading aloud with your children helps foster a love of reading and encourages them to develop a love of learning.

Research by Curtin University has found significant positive effects of reading aloud on children’s learning outcomes and social and emotional development. It is particularly beneficial for children who may experience reading difficulties.

Please find the attached fact-sheets that provide information on:

  • ideas for reading at home as a family;
  • ideas on what to discuss before, during and after reading;
  • a guide to recommended stories compiled by the State Library of WA.

With cooler weather approaching these holidays, it seems a perfect time to snuggle up and share a good book!
